Elize Vossgatter is a Cape Town based artist with a primary concern for oil paint and mixed media.
Her process is explorative and experimental; pushing the limits of the material by engaging the oil paint with new solvents and permitting a deterioration of the paint to tell the stories in the subjects. She works on a variety of different surfaces and includes artificial remnants of meaning; glitter, fur and sequence or anything else the subject demands.
In all her work there is an interrogation into what it means to be human, and how this awkward humanness, exists in relationship with our natural environment.
She is in the process of working towards her third solo exhibition opening on
February 2015 at Commune 1, Cape Town.
